Tonight, Salon La Argentina (also referred to as El Arranque, the name of one of the Milongas there) reopens. There are 3 afternoon and 3 evening Milongas at that location. Supposedly there will be live music for the evening Milongas (irregularly this month owing to the stage being occupied by sets from some unrelated theatre or concert production).
Tomorrow night is the much-anticipated reopening of Confiteria Ideal. There are several Milongas there by different organizers and they are all reopening this coming week. Lots of live music too--Orq. Contratiempo tomorrow, Juan Carlos Caceres (of Toca Tango/Tango Negro fame) next Thursday (wonder what will happen after he plays those two pieces ... :-). Lo de Celia should open by the end of the month as should Club Sin Rumbo (which was rumoured to be opening this weekend, but apparently not so). The "Milonga Famine of January" is getting close to being a page in the history books ... The "Buenos Aires Milongas" site has been updated with this info. Check the details at http://www.BuenosAiresMilongas.com/ (you can also enter your name and e-mail at that site to subscribe to a monthly-or-so newsbrief of Buenos Aires Milonga happenings).
