I just want to extend a hearty recommendation for (and giant thank you
to) Ruben Milonga, Woodstock Tango's guest artist last week, who once
again brought the heart and soul of Buenos Aires to our tango outpost
in the Hudson Valley Catskills!
Thank you for reminding us that it's all about the embrace.
Ruben's love of the music and extraordinary musicality inspired dancers
of all levels to really dance 'as if no one was watching'.
His meticulous technique was valuable not only for beginners but
especially useful to experienced dancers. Many said they discovered new
dimensions in their dance.
Known as a traditional milonguero who adheres to the "feet on the floor"
dance found in the milongas of Bs As... Ruben does not teach ganchos,
high boleos, colgadas or any of the new fantasia moves. But lest anyone
think that this is old fashioned or uninspiring--- let me say that
Ruben is one of the most original and inspiring dancers we've hosted-
his performances in Woodstock and NYC brought ovations and many
requests for private lessons. Experienced leaders in particular were
awed by his quietly seamless and elegant lead.....followers were just in
heaven.
Anyone seeking an authentic 'close embrace' teacher should seriously
consider Ruben at the top of their list...
