Dear tango Friends;

Three more days to the First Southern Tango Social,
Atlanta April 8-10!!!

For those of you wondering what to pack, we can
anticipate that we will have a typical spring weather
in Atlanta, with temperatures in the upper 60's to mid
70's, and some showers forecasted for Friday. For a
list of suggested activities in Decatur and Atlanta
(other than tango), please visit
http://www.atlantatangofestival.com/extras.html

Transportation: No rental car is needed if you are
staying at the hotel. $1.75 will take you from the
airport to the venue in a 25 minutes ride on MARTA
train (www.itsmarta.com). For directions, either
using public transportation or driving, please visit
http://www.atlantatangofestival.com/directions.html

Welcome: A table with registration materials will be
set at the hotel Thursday afternoon and Friday at
noon. If you are already registered, you will receive
a package with everything you need for the weekend,
including your badge and a "champagne brunch" coupon
if you are entitled to it. Please address any question
or concern to the people in that table. On-site
registration will be also available Thursday and
Friday in that table and in the Convention area during
the rest of the Festival .
In any case, people from the festival organization
will be around to help everybody; look for them: white
badge and/or festival T-shirt.

Carpe Diem Tango and Dinner: We are asking local
dancers to stop by the hotel in their way to Carpe
Diem. If you feel like walking, the restaurant is .75
miles from the hotel, otherwise, you can wait in the
lobby around 8:00-8:30 for a ride. Tango music will
start playing at 9:00 PM, but it is a good idea to be
there earlier to have dinner before you got bitten by
the "tango bug".

Vendors: Vendors on site will include Fashions by
Tango Splash and Tanguero Designs, Jorge Nel shoes,
Maleva and Co. T-shirts and Tango perfume (making its
premiere in the US). Also, festival T-shirts will be
available for sale for $10, and copies of the video
with special selections from Barbara Durr's
documentary "Chasing the Ghost" will be available for
purchase. For more information, visit
http://www.atlantatangofestival.com/extras.html.

Student discount: A student discount is offered for
individual workshops. Full time students with valid ID
(please carry it with you) can take individual
workshops for $15 each. No discount is offered for
milongas or passes, but the final price of the passes
will reflect the discount for individual workshops.

Wine Tasting: Ten different Argentine wines has been
secured to be offered at the Argentine Wine Tasting
(Saturday April 9th, 8:30 PM). The Argentine consul in
Atlanta will be present. We also have programed live
bandonesn music by Gerardo Pirez during the tasting
but he has decided to bail out just five days before
the event. It goes without saying that we are very
disappointed with his behavior.

Venue: All the events (classes and milongas) of the
festival will take place at the Holiday Inn Select in
downtown Decatur. Completely renovated in 2000, the
hotel offers a discount rate of $79 per night. Please
mention "Atlanta Tango event" when making your
reservation by calling 404-371 0204. Details and
directions at:
http://www.atlantatangofestival.com/venue.html

Food and beverage: Cash bars will be set at the
milongas. Also snacks and finger food will be
available in the dancing area. For a list of near by
restaurants and bars, please visit or web page:
