Dear Tango Friends, Registration for The Second "Meet in the Middle" International Tango Festival Aug 5-7 at Murray's in Mt Vernon Missouri is now underway. Concentrating on dancing and sharing our milonga skills for a marathon weekend proved to be a great success last year. Hope you will come again. The whole package of meeting, meals, and milongas is $125.00. Student rate $75. After July 5, add $20.
The setting is on the historical courthouse square where Murray's Vintage Venue occupies the newly restored 1893 building. This building could be straight from Chicago, NYC, or Buenos Aires. And, yet, it has all the charm, quiet, and peacefulness of any country hometown. An added attraction this year will be a public performance of tango dancing at the Horseshoe Theatre down the street. Working on details, but will be either before dinner or after dinner and before the milonga on Sat. Menus are being finalized starting with Belly Enhancement 101 with BBQ Friday night with all the fixin's. Then there's Saturday's breakfast with biscuits and gravy, and fruit and yogurt. Noon, it's A Sack Lunch Social with choice of ham, turkey, or veggie croissant. And some snacks along the way. We'll be sampling Ben Franklin homemade fudge, or stopping the ice cream truck as it ambles through the courthouse square. Saturday night's It's Shoe Time gala event will feature the live orchestra of Tango Lorca. Prime rib and spinach dip pasta headline the menu. We'll dine in my stained glass studio enjoying the ambiance of balcony seating. Complimentary wine or beer available. Sunday's Champagne Brunch to Dance For features quiche and crêpes... And somewhere between all the eatin' we'll manage to tango till our hearts are content. Robin Thomas and Robert Hauk will DJ the best of tempting tangos. Along with partners, Jennifer Bratt and Barbara Durr, they will also give us classes in the art of social dancing. The dance floor is never closed. Some are staying over Sunday so it just keeps on a goin'. So, get your registration to me by July 5, pack your tango brushes, and be ready to paint the town tango.
