The Tango Group at Washington University in St Louis Mo presents a "milonguero workshop" May 13-15 with Barbara Durr (Atlanta) and Robert Hauk (Portland).

Her specialty is milonguero style, or "close embrace", tango for social dancing. Her focus as a teacher is on musicality, connection between partners, and the compact choreography required for crowded social dance floors. Her particular talent is in being able to convey to US tango students a feel for the cultural body language of Buenos Aires. Barbara has spent a very considerable amount of time in Buenos Aires absorbing this style from the milongueros themselves, and has studied at length with the most accomplished master teachers of this style. She has taught across the United States in festivals and for special events in other cities. Robert Hauk, a nationally renowned tango teacher and DJ, who has been dancing and teaching tango for nearly a decade, will assist Barbara in her classes. His specialty is milonguero style, in which he has achieved an extraordinary level of skill -- sufficient even to win the praise of Buenos Aires's toughest judges, the milongueros themselves. Robert will also DJ at the Friday and Saturday milongas.
