Just when I was thinking that my announcements needed to be more "grabbing," I seemed to have taken it too far. If I offended people by my statement--"life is too short to dance with men who don4t know how to dance" --for sounding unsupportive and callous to the male population in tango, I apologize. I really just meant it as a call to the women that we would be out on the hunt for the best social dancing that we can ever imagine.
Also it4s totally subjective how one defines "know how to dance." Because for me it has everything to do with being considerate, caring for the woman in their arms, being musical, regardless of how many patterns that one might try to do. Or put another way, there are plently of beginner and intermediate dancers that "know how to dance" because they have a strong foundation. Secondly, let4s face it, tango is a really demanding dance for the guys. Therefore, hats off to all the men that get into the ring and stay there. Because the fact of the matter is that when men start dancing really well the payoff and gratification must be excellent, awesome, incredible, and fantastic. The last thing I want to do is discourage the men...because, YES, we very much need, want them, and cannot afford to lose them. thanks and sorry for any misunderstandings that it might have created.
