The Stanford Center for Down Syndrome Research and Treatment was established in 2003 with a grant from the Down Syndrome Research and Treatment Foundation (DSRTF). Scientists at the Center have already identified a gene that impairs cognition in DS. Current work at the Center includes studies of the gene and investigations about specific abnormalities in DS synapses. The foundation was established in 2003. In it's first full year of operations it became the largest private source of DS research funding and steered $1.4 million of federal funds to DS research. If you are not able to join us, please consider making a donation. Contact George Nicol, [email protected].
