We believe tango is a skill that anyone can learn by repetition and feedback. Most workshops teach steps, which is great for being introduced to some new patterns. But generally, the focus is not on teaching the individuals how to dance. The Tango From The Heart Close-Embrace Lead-Follow Intensive is desgned to go beyond steps, and improve your ability to dance. We focus personally on your technique, your style, your ability to interpret the music and your ability to lead or to follow. That is the difference. In the system of teaching we employ, we take you through three phases of learning tango: 1. The first phase is lening steps.. Workshops intorduce you to new steps. We work with you and drill you on steps until you know them inside and out and they are second nature to you. Then you can do them without thinking. 2. Next we take you deep into these steps, revealing every nuance of technique and every little secret of movement that is not readily apparent when you are first introduced to them. 3. Finally, once you know the steps and technique cold, and it comes very natural to you, we take you to the next phase of tango learning: To express your deepest feelings and unknown aspects of your personality through the dance. You learn to express in tango your unique response to the rhythm and melody of tango music. And you learn to connect with, and focus on, your partner, picking up subtle cues about what would make the dance very special and fulfilling to both of you. This is when tango is GREAT FUN!
