Our apologies to those who receive this note twice. I forgot to specify
all the geographic designations on the first note. We want everyone to come
to Buenos Aires and spend some time with us in El Conventillo de Lujo.
As we previously announced, El Conventillo de Lujo is open for business.
You are welcome to come to Buenos Aires as stay with us at the Conventillo
at any time. If we are not in Buenos Aires at the time your gracious hosts
will be Amy's sister and our manager, Susana, and her husband, Cachi, our
maintenance manager.
You may be interested in a little history. What is a Conventillo?
Between the turn of the twentieth century and World War II several waves of
European immigrants arrived in Buenos Aires in search of a better future.
Many of the them found lodging in the big old houses of the San Telmo, La
Boca, and Montserrat neighborhoods. Singles, couples, and even complete
families lived in poor rooms giving on to a common inner patio. These
collective lodgings, the conventillos, became a milestone in the history of
the city. The energy derived from the tenant's swarming dreams, gossip, and
fights gave birth to tango.
To accommodate those who prefer to travel in a group we are planning to host
four group trips to Buenos Aires per year. We will have one per quarter, in
March, June, September, and December. We may have a side trip for some of
the group trips. For instance in March we are tentatively planning to visit
Patagonia. The group trips will normally be two weeks duration. If we have
a side trip an extra week may be required and will be optional. Our
standard package price for the two weeks in Buenos Aires will be $1,550.
Our next group trip will be from September 3rd to September 18th. The
following is included in the package price.
