In about three weeks I'm going to write a review of the July 21-24 NY Tango festival, about the wonderful, though very short milonga on the Staten Island ferry; the wonderful classes and teachers; and experiencing the New York ambiance. An interesting class is "Interactive Tango: It takes two" taught by Virginia Kelly & Dario Di Silva. This year, Omar Vega is part of the roster of teachers, teaching his specialty, milonga. For those who want to see transit maps, the web page is http://www.mta.info For $21, you can buy a transit pass good on buses AND subways for 7 days instead of paying $2 a trip. The subways run 24 hours a day. Last year, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the opening of the first line (IRT) of the subway system. This year, at our hit and swim > milonga on the Staten Island Ferry, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of ferry service under city operation. I'm not the promoter so I don't have any financial interest. But I do have interest that it succeeds so that it will be repeated next year.
