Background Information on Deb Sclar & Brian Dunn:

Conceived in their passion for authentic Argentine tango, birthed in 1998 to
seduce others to the magic of the embrace and nurtured through their obsession
for continued improvisational dancing, Dance of the Heart" is the "tango
child" of Deb Sclar & Brian Dunn of Boulder, Colorado. Tango partners for the
last seven years, Deb & Brian share their passion for teaching and performing
Argentine Tango music and dance with students and audiences worldwide. They
have taken over one hundred hours of advanced professional training with
maestros Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne, are Certified Trainers in Mauricio
Castro's innovative Tango Discovery methodology and often study with other
world-renowned tango maestros.

Deb & Brians goal is to share the rich cultural treasure of Argentine Tango by
introducing as many people as possible to the powerfully intimate tango
embrace, and inviting them into the authentic tango social dancing experience.
Full-time tango professionals since 2002, Deb & Brian have taught thousands of
students through group classes plus they teach an average of 400 private
lessons a year.

Established in 1998, Dance of the Heart offers multiple tango group classes and
private lessons weekly in the Boulder/Denver area and beyond. Deb & Brians
teaching and performing schedule includes a growing list of invitations to
communities throughout the U.S., in Buenos Aires, Argentina and - as of the
summers of 2004 & 2005 - throughout Scandinavia. In May 2005, they performed
several tangos during the Spokane Symphony Orchestra guest: world-renowned
bandoneonist Daniel Binelli (arranger/bandoneonist for Pugliese starting in
1971, bandoneonist for Astor Piazzolla until 1992, accompanist for "Forever
Tango). With longtime collaborator and master teacher Luciana Valle, Deb &
Brian are pioneering innovative new accelerated methods of teaching tango in
their acclaimed week-long "Tango Intensivos", previously accomplished in March
2005 (Buenos Aires) and in July 2005 (Sweden); they will have information on
their next series in October 2005 (Buenos Aires).

Deb & Brian continually refresh their tango with frequent trips to Buenos Aires
(7 times thru 2004) and other major tango communities worldwide. In addition
to their workshops, Deb & Brian also promote community building, organize tango
"safaris" and produce tango performances. As long-time tango community
builders, they have focused on expanding the Colorado tango scene through
sponsoring regular milongas and practicas since 2001, as well as providing
"Tango DJ" services for other milongas and practicas.

As teachers, Deb & Brian continue to obsess about how to present the magical
essence of dancing social Argentine Tango to students in the absolutely
shortest possible period of study. From their years of experience as teachers,
students and performers, Deb & Brian enthusiastically and systematically
distill for beginners and advanced students alike the excitement, mystery and
heart-to-heart magic of tango.

Class/Workshop Schedule (pricing information follows schedule)

(NOTE: Deb & Brian intend for their workshops to impart to you their passion
for the connection of close-embrace in traditional yet contemporary Argentine
tango.)

ALL of the WCT, Inc. classes/workshops with Deb & Brian are at Mariposa (346 N.
Justine at Arbour, Chicago).

Thursday, July 21 (in place of WCT, Inc.s regularly scheduled class / practica)

7:00-8:15 p : Tango Connection Uno == Rediscovering "Leading" & "Following" in
The Social Tango Connection (All Levels!!) Amaze yourself and your partners
with the undiscovered possibilities of the "lead-follow" connection -
ESPECIALLY if you've been dancing for years! Your dancing may never be the
same - ask your partners if they can tell the difference after this class!
Additionally, Deb & Brian will explore the full range of communication with our
partners in close-embrace salon, "apilado / milonguero" close embrace as well
as open embrace tracing the history and development of this sometimes
controversial topic based on their years of research in Buenos Aires.

8:30-9:45 p : The Tango Matrix, Part 1 == Rediscovering "Tango Vocabulary":
Improvisation to the Max! (All Levels!!) OK, all you experienced dancers -
how many of the tango lessons you've paid for do you actually USE on the dance?
Where are all those "expensive" steps you paid so much to learn? Never again be
a victim of "forgotten sequence syndrome" again! Followers, how often can you
really decorate expressively in the moment without the risk of being labeled
"harder to lead"? Learn the secrets of total improvisation, instead of just
"temporarily memorizing" yet another particular sequence! Recent discoveries
in learning technique can change your "improvisational toolkit" forever! For
both Leaders and Followers, learn to involve yourself in the
"improvisation-learning" experience in a new and effective way! Beginners -
this class is for you, too - get started right, and save yourself YEARS in your
tango development!

Friday, July 22 (before Milonga Vida at Mariposa - $12 separate entrance fee
for milonga from 9:00 p2:00 a) 7:308:45 p : Tango Connection Dos == "Will You
Remember Me?" - Connection Secrets for Dancing a Memorable Tango (All Levels!!)
Maybe what you want from tango is just a pleasant form of social exercise -
tennis, anyone? Nothing wrong with that - but this class is for those who want
to explore the edge a little. Deb & Brian like to talk about tango as a "safe
place to be dangerous" and as "dancing in the pheromone furnace" discover
what they've learned about taking the masculine-feminine dialog to the next
level!

Saturday, July 23

12 noon-1:30 p : Tango Matrix, Part 2 == Turning the Cross Inside Out in Tango
& Vals (All Levels!!) Leaders, how many ways of leading the cross do you
actually use? Followers, are you actually available to be led to any kind of
cross? Push your boundaries a little on this muy rico (very rich!) and sadly
oversimplified topic. Learn to double or quadruple the options you have at the
cross, using both the tango and vals rhythm possibilities. Followers, learn to
"break your leader's heart" with the way you go to the cross!

1:30-2:00 p : Practica/Break for 1/2 hr

2:00-3:30 p : Tango Matrix, Part 3 == Tilting Your Tango: Adventures in
"Volgadaland" (Intermediate) Discover a whole new world of tango - the
"alternate tango dimension" of off-axis tango explored through volcadas and
colgadas. We've been working intensively with these elements for three years
now - learn the "crowded-floor-approved" miniature forms of these elements for
starters (delicious little "volcaditas" and "colgaditas") that you'll find
yourself using all the time from now on. Followers, learn the basics of
tension and release in off-axis work to allow yourself to flow most gracefully
with this exciting material. NOTE: This or the subsequent class is a required
prerequisite to prepare for the advanced Sunday off-axis material.

3:30-4:00 p : Practica/Break for 1/2 hr

4:00-5:30 p : Tango Matrix, Part 4 == Sacadas & Turns to the Max (Intermediate
& Advanced) Improvise your way through all of the thirty-six (count 'em, 36 in
90 minutes) BASIC sacada possibilities! Followers, learn how you can inject
energy into your dance in ways you never imagined! NOTE: This or the prior
class is a required prerequisite to prepare for the hyper-advanced Sunday
sacada material.

5:30-6:30 p : Practica until 6:30 p

Sunday, July 24

12 noon-1:30 p : Tango Connection Tres == Musicality & Expression - Milonga
Emphasis! (All Levels!!) Learn how to inject more fun into everything you dance
with more musicality and expressiveness! Using Milonga as a focus, we'll
explore both traspie and falcety variations on "straight-up" milonga, giving
you lots of fun new things to try - but the underlying focus is on how to
energize your partner by sharing your enjoyment of the music. Learn the simple
techniques you can use that will make your milonga (and ALL your tango) more
musically joyful.
