EXTRA EVENTS FOR THE PASSION OF THE AMERICAS TANGO and JAZZ FESTIVAL
INCLUDE:

1) PIAZZOLLA MUSIC WORKSHOP: Astor Piazzola: A Stroll Through his Music

(Astor Piazzolla, Un Paseo por su Obra)
Presented by Blas Rivera and others. Photos, interviews, stories, and
music of Piazzola through the 40's and 50's. $15 USD or 150 pesos.
Friday Nov. 4, 12-2PM. Restaurant available.

2) THEME EVENT: PASSIONS OF THE AMERICAS: the Parallel Histories of
Jazz and Argentine Tango. Slides, discourse, demonstrations of music
and dance.
Presented by Vangy Franklin, Gerardo Perez, and perhaps another
musician.
 Villa Jacaranda Hotel, upstairs in theater. LIMITED seating, please
reserve early!
$15 USD or 150 pesos. Wed. Nov. 2, 4:30-6:30PM. Restaurant available.

3) AZTEC APHRODISIACS: Mexican Origins of Chocolate: dinner, SPECIAL
TANGO CLASS, LIMITED SPACE, RESERVATION ONLY!  $45 USD or  current
exact exchange rate pesos.
We will be bussed to this ranch in the country event with teachers,  It
is in the beautiful home and cooking mecca of master chef Patsy Dubois.
Thursday, Nov. 3. 12:30 transportation leaves, location TBA. 3:30PM
transportation returns.                 
4) DAY OF THE DEAD mini lecture , and transforming Death through Dance
(included with one of the milongas) $20 USD or $200 pesos. 8 PM sharp:
Finnegan's Irish Pub. Tables will be moved, and drinks only available.

 5) LA CORRIDA: Serenading the Streets: a walk through San Miguel with
Rennaissance attired Estudiantino musicians, singing traditional
serenades  FREE!! For EARLY arrivals, night of Nov. 1. 6:30 PM Meeting
place TBA.

6) Concert with CARACOL DE FUEGO, a group playing pre-hispanic
instruments, of the sort used 3,000 years ago. Imagine 30 instruments
tortoise shells, wood, clay and  reed flutes, voice, and body painted
musicians. FOLLOWED by a spectacular milonga!
CARACOL DE FUEGO concert: $15 USD or 150 pesos. MILONGA: 200 pesos
OR BOTH for $25 USD or $250 pesos

7) TEQUILA: ELIXIR OF THE AGAVE: A tasting of the several kinds of
tequilas, from spikey to smooth finishes. ($12 USD or $120 pesos)
RESTAURANT BERLIN, followed by group dinner, reservations required, and
dinner price extra. 40 people only. (Teachers and musicians will
attend, so reserve your place early!)

Tours will be booked according to numbers of people interested, and in
order to least conflict with other activites of the festival.

Viajes San Miguel will also be picking you up at the airport in Leon,
or Mexico City, to get you to San Miguel and your hotel. Cost is $27
USD each way, and takes one anjd a half hours one way. VSM will also
pick you up to take you back for your return flight.
