Our first 'Central Illinois Close Embrace Tango Weekend' in September
2004 was a successful event with over 100 participants from 5 states
(IL, MO, IA, WI, IN).

As guest instructor Tom Stermitz generated an enthusiasm for
milonguero style tango that started in the workshops and spread out
over the dance floor at the milongas. New dancers found a system of
partner connection, musicality and navigation they could work with and
this provided the foundation for further growth. Experienced dancers
in other styles were transformed, gaining an immediate confidence in
the style of tango that is danced in the milongas in Buenos Aires.
Experienced milonguero style dancers found refreshment, consolidation,
and expansion of their milonguero base.

As a result of this weekend, many new tango friendships were formed
and we have met each other and danced with each other again and again
in many larger and smaller tango communities across the Midwest, as
well as in Denver and at other national tango festivals focusing on
dancing tango in close embrace.

As a result of these successes, we have invited Tom Stermitz to return
as instructor and DJ for the Second Annual Close Embrace Tango
Weekend, to be held in Urbana IL Fri Sept 3 - Sun Oct 2.

Tom is well known for organizing the Denver Milonguero Tango festivals
on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends for the last 5 years, as well
as a successful tango instructor in Denver who has been invited to
teach highly acclaimed workshops in various cities in the US and in
Europe.

We have also invited Ramu Pyreddy from Ann Arbor MI, to also teach
workshops and DJ. Ramu is in high demand as DJ for tango festivals and
tango weekends around the US. He is also an experienced member of the
core teaching staff of the University of Michigan tango club, which
has trained many dancers skilled in dancing tango in close embrace.
Ramu is now also branching out to teach at various cities around the
US, and has received very positive reviews.

With this expansion in our offerings, we expect this year's Close
Embrace Tango Weekend to be even more successful than last year.

Urbana, IL is located in Central Illinois, almost equidistant from
Chicago, Indianapolis, and St Louis. Our tango community started in
1998, and thus we have a large tango community with many skilled and
experienced dancers. Our tango weekends have draw many dancers from
around the Midwest and many of our tangueros are well known as
frequent attendees at tango festivals around the US.

Join us for a fun weekend of dancing tango in close embrace, with
excellent instruction and the best music for dancing.

A tentative schedule is listed below. This and updates will be posted
