Join the dancers of the all-female dance company, Tango ConFusion, for a
night of celebration as Bay Area-based filmmaker Auriel premieres “Tango
ConFusion: The Documentary”. It used to “take two to tango,” but the
women of Tango ConFusion bend the gender related customs and traditions
of this century-old dance. Auriel’s documentary tracks the company
during its first year and profiles its collaborative artists.

A champagne reception toasts the documentary’s premiere. The 7:30pm
early showing will be followed by a brief Q & Q session with Auriel,
performances by Tango ConFusion, and a Milonga. A 10:45pm late showing
closes the event.

Critical praise for Tango ConFusion:

“Exciting and innovative in the extreme…” – The Performers’/Artists’
Voice

“Sensuous” – Voice of Dance

“Wonderful. An eye-opener…” – Bob MacKenzie of KTVU/Channel 2

Filmmaker’s Statement:

“I was inspired to do this project by the Tango ConFusion dancers
themselves and their contribution to all women young and old who have
given up on goals traditionally pursued by men. It has been an
unwritten law that Argentine Tango be choreographed by men because they
lead the dance. The women in this company lead and follow, choreograph
and perform a fusion of tango and modern dance with fervent passion.”
