MorenoTango proudly presents Tango de los Muertos Festival of Tango Music and Dance October 28 - 30, 2005, Boston, MA www.tangodelosmuertos.com
Come to Boston for Tango de los Muertos - a festival of tango music, dance, connection, and laughter! It all opens with a Pajama Milonga on Friday morning October 28th from 11am-2pm. We provide breakfast and Homer Ladas will DJ - you provide your pajama-clad selves (or just-plain-clad selves)! In the afternoon, dancers attend workshops with Jean-Sebastien Rampazzi ([email protected]) while serious musicians go to rehearse with Hector del Curto (www.hectordelcurto.com) for the 20-person Monster Orchestra that will play a set at the Sunday milonga. (If you are a serious musician who wants to join the orchestra contact [email protected] to find out more.) In the evening, there will be a Tango Jam where musicians of all levels, playing any kind of instrument, will get together to jam on tango music. (Tango Jams are starting to sweep the country courtesy of Ben Bogart at Providence Tango, who loves and nurtures them.) While the Jam is going on the quintet Tango Lorca from Kansas City will teach a musicality workshop for dancers, followed by a Cabeceo milonga, with DJs Eray Yuksek and Ben Bogart. The medium-sized room will have tables on all sides and leaders and followers mixed. That's Day One of Tango de los Muertos... Here are the hard facts: - Jean-Sebastien Rampazzi, Rebecca Shulman, Homer Ladas and Tango Lorca teach workshops for dancers - Hector del Curto, Tango Lorca and Bernardo Monk teach workshops for musicians; Ben Bogart leads the Tango Jams, and Hector also leads the orchestra - Tango Lorca, MassTango, and the Monster Orchestra play at the Saturday Costume Ball, the Tango Brunch, and a set at the Sunday Milonga - DJs are Homer Ladas, Ben Bogart, Avik Basu, Tine Herreman, and Eray Yuksek - Dance performances by the teachers; with a Tango Brunch on Saturday morning featuring performers from New York, Denver, and elsewhere...
