For an upcoming tango performance, we want a one-sentence introduction. Here is what someone came up with: "From the bordellos of Argentina, the sensual, passionate dance - tango!"
My concern was that the producers might veto it for "family friendly" reasons (they're quite conservative). But it also got me to thinking about how accurate this is. Is this just a titillating story, designed to market tango better? We know tango was a dance of the lower classes, but does that mean it really originated in houses of ill repute?
