A true PorteƱo, he was born in the Buenos Aires barrio of La Boca where he grew up listening to live tango music in his father's nightclubs. He started dancing tango over 10 years ago in the milongas of Buenos Aires, where he has come to be well-respected by the old-time milongueros such as Cacho Dante and Tete as well as one of the most sought-after dance partners. In Buenos Aires, Horacio was four years an instructor at Susana Miller's *La Academia*, received recognition as a "young and upcoming milonguero" in a special milonga for him and Carmencita Calderon (the 95-year-old queen of tango), was in charge of marketing and publicity at the renowned club "El Beso," had his own successful milonga "Glamour," and was twice a finalist in the annual Tango Championships of Buenos Aires. In Atlanta since 2001, he currently serves several venues--Tangueros Emory, Milonga A Media Luz, and Milonga Pasional--as instructor and DJ, teaches his own class at Several Dancers Core, and has been a guest instructor and performer for the Emory University Ethnomusicology Program and the National Ethnomusicology Conference. He also travels frequently to Buenos Aires to maintain his dancing. Most recently, on March 30, 2005, Horacio directed Tangueros Emory and members of the Atlanta tango community in the sold-out and standing-room-only show "Argentine Tango" at Georgia State University's Rialto Center for the Performing Arts. (see cooperative.bravehost.com/horacio.html<http://cooperative.bravehost.com/horacio.html> ) ** *"The goal is not to teach the students a set of steps, but rather, a way through which, at the compass of Tango music, they can dance to a feeling. There is no limit as to how feelings can be expressed, nor is there only one way in which to convey them, and therefore, by learning how to translate the feelings that already exist into the gliding fluidity of Tango, the students will feel at ease on the dance floor from the very first lessons." * ** *Schedule of Classes:(Please note the generous length of these classes)* *Saturday,Nov.12, 2- 3:10pm.. 1st class Fundamentals of Tango*.
