I met Metin Yazir about six-seven years ago. At the time I was a beginner tango student of six months, and already feeling a ceiling a sense that tango is just an other dance and I know all there is to know minus some practice. (Boy was I wrong!)
Then I saw him dance. Just casually at the milonga. It was like watching river flow. Ever changing and yet harmonious and natural. I remember saying, THIS is what I want to do. Ever since it has been a lovely journey. To this day I am amazed to find out he is still trying to create. He is still trying to improve the way he teaches. He has analyzed the dance, the movement, the partnership, the energy down to its most crucial details. He has an amazing ability to isolate and identify problems, and communicate - forget grammar but you get the deepest meaning possible of his message. Most everyone who danced with him (or taken lessons with him) can attest to the implications of my claim. Now that Vanessa has joined him, it has become even more of a fest for those hungry tango lovers. Do I need to say more? Hope to see you this weekend at the workshops.
