ADRIANA, a fascinating tango dancer/teacher titles her Wed. class: 'Still Walking' Adriana trained with Carlos Gavito and Masaki Iwana (Japanese Butoh). Both teachers inspired her to explore the very difficult task of being simple (Note: If you witnessed Gavito's dancing, you understand that less is not only more but the most! L.K.) Bring her your concerns about what is most perplexing for you in your tango journey. More info at http://celebratetango.com/events.html 2. Upcoming special event on Wed Nov 16: RUBÉN CARLOS TERBALCA will present his lecture, aided by visual material, "HISTORY OF THE TANGO DANCE AS A POPULAR DANCE BETWEEN 1860-1960 IN BUENOS AIRES". He says, ³This is my specialization and my focus...². There will be a chance for written questions and answers--a rare opportunity to hear someone who has intensively studied this period. He will also, at some time during the evening, offer an improvisation. He says: ³When I dance I just improvise like a milonguero-street dancer". If you do not know his style, he is wonderful and perhaps one of the wittiest dancers I have experienced!! Thrilling to see him dance a milonga. Wood floor, friendly people, fine sound. Lovely cheap, good food, good wine and beers (optional) Note: Parking easier on Wed. than on the weekends. Tons of public transportation. Call if you need help. Offered by Adriana: "We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance." A Japanese Proverb Call or write me if you need more information. Lucille (212 777 6053)
