drawings. It has a tango score written by a member of Gotan Project. The
film maker will also be with us and happy to informally address questions on
the art of animation.
³Contrapunto² has been shown in several film festivals as has ³Double One².

Please read below more about the film maker, Adriana, including a short
exract from her thesis on her use of Jungian symbolism---but fear not! The
film stands on its own as a beautiful art film which was especially beloved
by Carlos Gavito, her maestro--and by me, too!

About ³Double One²
The film maker and dance/performer, Adriana Pegorer, is based in London. Her
work is interdisciplinary and collaborative. She is particularly interested
in presenting social dance in a theatrical context. Her film ŒDouble One¹
has been shown internationally at Dance Film Festivals and Art Galleries
(including
Buenos Aires, New York, Oslo, Athens, Rome, Barcelona, Berlin, London,
Mexico) and was recently show in at Cinetango, Canada (www.cinetango.com
<http://www.cinetango.com/> ).

The following is a very short extract from Adriana¹s thesis:

JUNGIAN SYMBOLISM IN THE FILM "DOUBLE ONE"

..the dancer performs on a stage covered with sand. The use of Tango
Argentino dance vocabulary is a precious aid to design precise patterns "all
the attention is focused on the drawing that is carried out with the
movement of the feet along the floor "...

'Double One' explores the conflict between Anima and Animus, with the woman
dancing with her Œvirtual¹ Animus. Anima is the female aspect in the male
and Animus is the male aspect in the female: being able to merge the two is
one of the most intricate components in the process of Integration.
'Syzygy' was the term applied by Jung when relating to "the complementary
functioning of otherwise opposing elements".
