Ruben Milonga will present a VIDEO-LECTURE:
"HISTORY OF THE TANGO DANCE BETWEEN 1860-1960 IN BUENOS AIRES AS A POPULAR
DANCE"
Wed Nov 16 at 8:30 pm at Ukrainian National Restaurant 2nd av b/t 8th y 9th
streets
He will perform an exhibition later in the evening at Esmeraldas Tango y
Pierogis Milonga.
This is a wonderful educational experience. Ruben is a most knowledgeable
tango-anthropologist and will show and explain different body movement,
styles of tango (with his fabulous video archive) as it evolved with the
tango music. Ruben Milonga! will open your eyes to why we dance the way we
dance.
Ruben Milongas Workshops
All classes will focus on musicality and accuracy of dance styles.

How to introduce the traspie and to go in or out of it
4pm VALS (romantic feelings in the dance)
Sunday Nov 20
4pm CANYENGUE INTRO (the happiness of the afro way)
5pm TANGO APILADO ("milonguero") Depth of leading and following.
Pausas = How to fill a break. Several entrances and plays with the ocho
cortado.
Workshops are $30 each. $25 each for two or more workshops.

Ruben Milonga grew up in the barrios of Bs As and began dancing at 12 years
old in 1956. In 1987 He opened a Dancing School in Bs.As. Focused on Tango,
Milonga, Vals Criollo and Canyengue. 1993-1996: He is named as a Professor
at the TANGO UNIVERSITY OF BUENOS AIRES where he taught: PSYCHOLOGY OF
TANGO AND OF THE PORTEQO; and TANGO LITERATURE (Ruben also has a degree
as a Psychologist!) He is a world known teacher and historian of both tango
dance and music. His knowledge is vast, his embodiment of the tango deeply
passionate.
