Some friends and I finally bought an apartment in Buenos Aires after searching for about two years. It was not an easy experience since we were not used to the process which requires "scribanos" instead of lawyers, and "boletos" instead of down-payments. However one part of the process which was a pleasure was meeting a wonderful architect named Loli Alvarez. She was so imaginative that she was able to make many defects of the apartment appear wonderful and charming. She was able to work miracles in space, making a closed up, ruined kitchen appear lmodern, light and airy. She put bathrooms and plumbing in an area of the apartment that no other architect dared to touch. When we were out of town she cared for the security of the apartment as if it were her own. She went out of her way to make sure that we approved of everything and to keep the neighbors happy while the work was going on. She never bothered us unnecessarily, however was sure to send us photos and progress reports frequently. She is a remarkable architect and has a team of excellent craftsmen who work for her. All the doors (which were in terrible shape and over a hundred years old) were re-done by hand, blow torched to remove the old paint and repainted in period detail. Her prices are very reasonable considering the time and oversight that she puts into the project, making sure that every detail is correct. I highly recommend her and have no financial gain in doing so. Her name is Loli Alvarez and her email is [email protected]. Her telephone is 5411-4328-0462.
