His lead is subtle yet compelling, usually in close embrace. Respecting the best milonguero traditions of Argentina, this native Brazilians innate ability to innovate steps all his own leaves us wanting more every time he visits! His style is unique, meditative, and intuitive. Paulos dance vibrates with playful rhythms and the joy of his Brazilian culture, while maintaining the intensity and passion of authentic Argentine tango. Paulo is able to reduce complex movements to elemental basics as well as challenge the most advanced dancer with variations on fundamentals. He has taught in festivals worldwide, most recently focusing on Italy, Slovenia and Mexico. Deemed the best tango teacher in Brazil, Paulo earned plaudits for his work at the October 2004 Portland TangoFest, such as: Paulo Araujo is a gem, absolutely brilliant and an incredible dancer as well as teacher. Paulo &Phoebe's class (Int: Principles for creativity) was AMAZING!!! Paulo taught something that will change my tango substantially, he taught a concept that opens up a whole new array of possibilities. I find Paulo to be an important teacher because he is addressing figures, techniques, fundamental themes as the emphasis of lessons, in my view, from less to more profound. THIS MAN SHOULD BE CLONED! By far I think Paulo was my favourite instructor in that he not only taught some figures (in Adv: Amazing sacadas & Very Adv: Infinite possibilities of back ochos) but he went to another level to deal with basics of technique and placement for leads and follows that is applicable to Tango in general, not just to specific figures or movements. Please bring Paulo back every year. I feel he is on a whole other level with what he teaches (in Int: Principles for creativity) that is invaluable to all levels of dance. Any studio space rental necessary for private/small group lessons will be in addition to the following pricing; free space may be available. Translation assistance will be an additional $20/hour, without prior consent from Oacy. A maximum of $10/session additional discount may be available from WCT, Inc. for assistance with transportation and/or translation. Any person canceling a private lesson less than 24 hours in advance will be charged the full amount for Paulos time, unless expressly otherwise confirmed by Phoebe or Paulo. Transportation time to your location or for a privacy window will be billed at applicable rate. Paulo special offer - if youve never taken a private lesson from him before, your first session will be only $80/individual or $100/couple. Paulo will provide 50-minute private lessons to individuals at $90; a package of 3 sessions will be $250; additional sessions will be $70 each. Private lessons to lead & follow couples will be in 80 minute time slots for $120 each; a package of 3 sessions will be $340; additional sessions will be $100 each. Small group rates also are available; e.g., on a per person, per hour basis: 2-6 persons at $60/p/h for the first hour; a package of 3 hours is $160/p/h; additional hours are $40/person/hour. A $10/session discount will be provided for either single or couple private lessons for a paid attendance at a WCT, Inc. workshop.
