The Tango Society of Central Illinois is pleased to host Alex Krebs from Tango Berretin Studio in Portland, OR for a weekend of workshops and milongas March 10-12, 2006 at the Phillips Recreation Center, 505 W Stoughton, Urbana.
Alex is a very popular instructor and milonga DJ worldwide. As a professional musician, he offers fresh insight into tango musicality, often adding missing elements in our dancing. We are sure you will come away from this weekend with plenty of new tango knowledge usable immediately on the social dance floor. His inspiring and friendly delivery is an added reason many tangueros make great efforts to see Alex teach tango. If you've seen Alex before, you know what we mean. Our tango weekends are a welcome venue for tango travelers desiring to immerse themselves in dancing tango in the close embrace style danced in the milongas of Buenos Aires. Residing in the home of the University of Illinois, we are a culturally diverse tango community with dancers from 18 to 80, so we're sure you'll find many new and interesting tango friends here. Our tango weekends attract many good dancers from around the Midwest and beyond. Visits here are hassle free, with many good but inexpensive hotels and restaurants, light traffic into and around the city, and readily available (and usually free) parking adjacent to your destinations. Housing: Numerous recommended hotels within 10 minutes of the workshop venue are listed on our webpage.
