Omar Vega is known as an exemplary salon dancer who creates all of his
unique and innovative ideas on the social dance floor,
remaining "true" to the essence of social dance. He appeared in the
seminal tango film "The Tango Lesson", dancing with director Sally
Potter; his many instructional videos are in demand worldwide. He is
one of the new generation of dancers, but his style reflects that of the
classic milongueros of Buenos Aires. Omar considers his tango to be
based in natural, sensual movement. He is internationally renowned for
his extremely rhythmic style of dancing. He personifies the style,
spirit, and essence of tango as practiced in the dance halls of Buenos
Aires and is a master of improvisation, especially appreciated for his
musical interpretation.

Woodstock Tango hosts weekly classes, monthly milongas and special
workshops featuring outstanding dancer/teachers from NYC and Buenos
Aires. Founded in January 2004 by Ilene Marder, a media relations
consultant and ardent tango dancer, the first Woodstock Tango events -
Argentine Tango milongas plus live Salsa nights - began in February 2004
at The Catamount Cafi, outside Woodstock.
The events attracted dancers from all over the region, including Albany,
the Hudson Vallley, the Berkshires, New Jersey and the NYC metro area.
A 'tango outpost' in the country was born!

The first series of workshops was held March through June 2004, taught
by Dario Da Silva, Jackie Wong, Daniel Trenner, Junior Cervila, Angel
Garcia Clemente & Rosa Collantes. In the summer of 2004, we moved events
into the village of Woodstock, with a second series of workshops taught
by Junior Cervila, Carlos De Chey, Ruben 'Milonga' Terbalca, Pulpo y
Luiza and Dario Da Silva.
In September 2004, we began hosting weekly classes at the Mountain View
Studio in the heart of the arts colony.

In 2005, guest artists included Nelson Avila, Junior Cervila, Luiza y
Pulpo, Ruben 'Milonga' Terbalca, Mariela Franganillo, Chan Park (Tango
Zen) Omar Vega, Judy y Jon, Carlos De Chey, Angel Garcia Clemente &
Rosa Collantes.

Woodstock Tango is dedicated to growing a vibrant tango community and in
two years has developed an extraordinarily, warm and vibrant group known
for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere!

Monthly milongas and guest workshops are held on the last Saturday of
each month. Ongoing classes are held every Thursday night in Woodstock,
taught by the superb young dancer Dario Da Silva.
