After we had a big success last Sunday with Treys benefit in La Milonguita Ideal, I'm really happy to let you know that a great amount of money came together, and therefore we where able to help as a community, thanks to each and everyone who contributed something. (Read e mail below from Rick Castro!) I hope to see you all there again this Sunday! So, the party must go on.. With Empire Dance providing the ambiance to enjoy the music, dancing and performances, Trey's Benefit was a great night because each of you helped. My sincerest appreciation and gratitude to all who contributed their time and talent to making this event so successful. Got to start somewhere so .... to Hernan and Annatina who slaved in their kitchens (great Russian & Pasta salads), and Sarah (our substitute bartender so that I could enjoy a couple of dances with my lady, Laura Lynn). And the performers, including, Tito Castro & Mauricio Najt (masters of their instruments), Richard Lipkin (he must return to DJ'ing), Octavio & Mauricio (playing "4 hands" piano) and then w/Sergio of Los Chantas on the violin, Rosa Collantes & Angel Garcia (spicing up the night with a Salsa/Tango combo), Nito & Mariela (one of those rare classic Tango moments), Annatina & Stephane (an elegant dance), Natacha (lifting the Chacarera to a new level w/Mariela), and Hernan (who was our starting DJ and also performed w/Natacha), and Carina Lusano (capping the night with a surprise dance with Angel). And an extra mention to those who helped promote this benefit, including, Gayatri (La Boca, and thanks for the "Bud" & chips), Sondra (Lafayette Grill), Robin Thomas (Chelsea Market), Juan Pablo (La Nacional), Carlos de Chey (Milonga de Gardel), Rebecca & Fabienne (Dance Manhattan), Sarah (All Night Milonga), Annatina (La Milonguita Ideal), and Al Sanchez (Spice Business Mgr). Special thanks to La Milonguita Ideal which donated their night for this event.
