Dear Tango friends:

I'm happy to announce that things are going extremely well for the
Denver Tango Festival.

Pre-registration has reached 90, which means that the workshop passes
are almost half filled up. I'm not pushing advertising very hard
because I want to keep workshop attendance at 200 and total
attendance around 400 (about the same as last year). I want a quality
experience, and things just get too crazy for me if it gets too big.

I expect weekend classes to fill, which means that at some point I
will have to cut-off workshop pass purchases. There will probably not
be any drop-in classes on the weekend.

Passes range from $90 for two days of workshops to $145 for the Gold
Pass which gives you everything from Friday Welcome Milonga to the
Monday Morning Welcome to Dawn Milonga. Consider the $125 Saturday
arrival pass if you can't get off work on Friday. Early arrivals can
take additional days of classes for $35 each.

IMPORTANT TO PRE-REGISTER

Weekend classes will probably fill, and I need to have you registered
and paid prior to arrival so I can make up badges and attendance
sheets. EVEN DROP-INS or MILONG-ONLY ATTENDEES need to pre-register
as I have to reserve hotel rooms and floor space.

6TH ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY TANGO FESTIVAL
May 24 - 29, 2006, Denver Colorado

Please see the Festival website at: http://LaEternaMilonga.com

The teaching staff this year includes some of the most experienced
and wonderful teachers in the World:
 - Eric Jorissen from Holland, 15 years
 - Brigitta Winkler from Berlin & NYC, 20 years
 - Hsueh-tze Lee from Boston. 15 years

We have invited some of the best DJs from around the country:
 - Robert Hauk
 - Robin Thomas
 - Dan Boccia
 - Ramu Pyreddy

The special thing about this set of teachers is they all share a
particularly creative approach to teaching. Their classes are like
little stories that start with a simple plot, adding surprising
twists along the way, with everything resolving to a climax at the
end. Intermediates will all succeed; Advanced will all be challenged.

Also, you will notice that the DJs and Teachers are social dancers.
They will mix and dance with everybody in the milongas. This is not
always the case with performers and teachers.

EXPECT YOUR DANCE SKILL TO IMPROVE!

Denver has a community of good dancers. The Denver festivals are
famous for the quality of dance and courteous floor-craft. Local
dancers benefit because you will have an intense weekend of really
good dancing... When the floor is filled with so many other good
dancers, you find that your own dancing improves to match.

Taking classes is a good way to meet the everyone and reserve dances
for later in the evening.

FANATICS & LOCAL TEACHERS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY

The Denver festival attracts many people who are teachers back home
as well as the fanatics who make multiple trips to Buenos Aires.
Because we are getting so many good dancers, classes are all at the
same level: Intermediate to Advanced. We don't get very many
beginners thinking they are advanced..

CLASSES AND MILONGAS ARE NOT FOR BEGINNERS; you already need to know
how to navigate and are reasonably good with all the basic tango
vocabulary.

"Suspicion of strangers is a common human trait. But so is
curiosity, even fascination. There's a reason that Romeo and Juliet
is considered timeless. The social structure has to fight hard to
keep each new generation in line."
