Tango 59° Stockholm City is proud to present one of the foremost tango orquestas in the world - ENSEMBLE HYPERION, numbering seven instrumentalists of the very highest level.

Since its conception in 1992, the Hyperion Ensemble has developed a wide repertory of tango music and has performed at festivals, theaters, tango parties, and concert halls all over Europe, with more than 450 performances.

The Ensemble has collaborated with various bandoneonists as Daniel Binelli, Luis Stazo, Hector Raul "Tito" Cartechini, Peter Reil, Josè Luis Betancor, Marisa Mercadè, Massimiliano Pitocco, Gilberto Pereyra, Veronique Rioux, and others. These fruitful collaborations has added a deeper dimension to the Hyperion Ensemble's already intense, artistic character.

Hyperion's most notable appearances have been in: VI Cumbre Internacional del Tango Sevilla 2005, Festival d’Etè and Festival Couleurs Tango in Paris, London Battersea Arts centre, Lausanne Festival internazionale Tangofolie 1995, Freiburg, Stuttgart, Zaragoza, Malaga Theater Cervantes, La Versiliana, Vignaledanza, Teatro Nuovo di Torino, Arena del sole Bologna, Spoleto, Demotikè Theatro Kerkyra, Teatro San Babila Milano, in the Tangofestivals in Torino, Roma, Milano, Firenze, Venezia, Genova, Fivizzano etc.

In the month of may 2004 Hyperion has produced the show Boulevard Tango, with 4 couples of dancers, which has been performed in the last two years in several Italian theaters.

In summer 2005 Hyperion began the collaboration with an important dance company; AllthatTango, directed by Sebastian Arce and Mariana Montes. In summer 2005 the Ensemble also took part in the show Tango Nuevo with Roberto Herrera, and in the show Tango Metropolis with Claudio Hoffmann and the renowned bandoneonist Daniel Binelli.

From September 2005 Hyperion also performs with another great bandoneon player: Luis Stazo, ex Sexteto Mayor. The Hyperion Ensemble actually released 4 cds: Livin Tango (1998) - Boulevard Tango (2000) - Corso Buenos Aires (2005) – Buenos Aires Hora cero (2006).
