2-Day Seminar in Tango Improvisation & Technique With Andres Amarilla & Meredith Klein
HIGHLIGHTS - 2 day intensive program with Andres & Meredith - Summer BBQ & Pool Party Milonga - Deejays Jackie Wong & Greg Messina - Additional workshops in Nuevo Tango - Outdoor Milonga Do you ever: - Have trouble remembering what you learned in a class or workshop? - Wish you could improvise more effectively? - Have difficulty writing down tango steps or ideas? - Wish you could easily trade steps from workshops with friends in other cities? For the past ten years, Andres Amarilla has been developing THE CODE, a simple system for notating tango steps. While The Code is useful for remembering steps you create or learn in workshops, its real beauty lies in how it makes the structure of tango completely clear. Of the thousands of ways to put simple tango elements together, most of us only use a tiny fraction of the possibilities. Understanding the structure of tango enables us to improvise more effectively, decrease our dependence on workshops, and give us new ideas...our own ideas. On July 15 & 16, Andres & Meredith will present an intensive in Pittsburgh, combining instruction in The Code with classes in tango technique. The technique classes will not only help you figure out how to execute your new steps but will teach principles that help you solve future technique problems on your own. You don't need to be a software engineer, math genius or cartographer to learn The Code. It's simple, intuitive and user-friendly. By the end of the intensive, you will be able to: - Write any step or combination of steps. - Easily create your own sequences. - Improvise more effectively. - Understand the structure of tango. - Easily "steal" cool steps from videos or from the dance floor. - Organize information learned in past workshops and learn more quickly in the future. - Figure out all 72 possible ganchos for the follower (as well as all possible boleos, sacadas, colgadas, etc.).
