Colette and Richard are a multi-talented and diversified couple who teamed up
in 2001. They belong to a category of dancers who are disciplined and
persistent. Together they endeavor to master the art of coordination and
togetherness
through feeling, technique, musicality and silent communication expressed
through their different roles.
Colette is a well known Canadian artist with a long and brilliant career in
Canada, the United States and Europe (especially Spain). For many years she has
been equally devoted to Argentine tango and has studied with the most
influential masters from Buenos Aires.
As a teacher Colette has a comprehensive understanding of many learning styles,
different languages (fluently speaking French, Spanish and English). She has a
thorough teaching method based on the mechanics of tango movement, connection,
musicality and improvisation.
Richard is a young and rising star in the tango scene and a veteran of many
tango performances. After meeting Colette, and under her tutelage, he turned to
tango and they became dance partners. He has in-depth knowledge of partnership
dancing based on fundamentals, technique and musicality.
His fluidity, elegance, and notable capacity for improvisation have made him a
very appreciated and requested tango dancer and teacher.
Together Colette and Richard share a love of dancing and teaching tango. Their
ability to communicate through dance and music gives a sense of something
special and magical. They have performed with many great entertainers including
Susana Jimenez, Orquesta Contratiempo, Estela Raval, and some of the most
phenomenal dancers from Forever Tango, Tango Dreams and many other companies.
In 2003 they won the IDO United States Argentine Tango Championships and in
2005 competed in the World Championships held in Buenos Aires where they were
finalists in Tango Salon and semi-finalists in Performance Tango.
