It advocates an incremental, grassroots approach to urban
revitalization, in downtown Eugene, Oregon. At the core of the film,
is the example of the Tango Center, an Argentine Tango community
dance-hall, launched four years ago as a prototype special-purpose
community center. There are some scenes of floor-building, Argentine
Tango dancing and music-making. The video is a proposal, submitted to
the City of Eugene, and may be useful to anyone trying to create
their own public Tango space, or to anyone arguing for humane
approaches to urban redevelopment.
