Afternoon workshops/Evening Milonga and swing dance...

Tanguero's and swing dancers from across the region will be attending the Saturday, April 28th Tango & Swing Dance at the Bearsville Theater, which features two evening classes in both dances as well as a night of social dancing. Special guest Nelson Avila, star of Broadway's original production of Tango Argentino, will perform a tango demonstration during the evening festivities, as well as conduct afternoon workshops with his wife and partner Madalyn, in Tango Essentials and Chacarera, Argentina's most popular folkdance. All activities take place at the Bearsville Theater.

MADALYN & NELSON AVILA:
Born in Argentina, Nelson Avila is a world-famous maestro of Argentine Tango, having appeared in the original Broadway production of Tango Argentino, as well as other prestigious tango shows, including the 2004 production of Forever Tango, in Buenos Aires, Europe, South America, the USA & Canada. He performed for the Kennedy White House, has been photographed for Vogue magazine and has trained such luminaries as Robert Duvall, Rita Moreno, Sharon Stone, Anthony Quinn and the Russian dancer Vasiliev. He now lives in NYC with his wife Madalyn, where he teaches and performs when not touring and giving workshops

The BEARSVILLE THEATER, located on Rt. 212, two miles West of the Woodstock Village Green, is perched on the Sawkill Creek in one the region's most picturesque streamside settings. Legendary among theatergoers and artists alike as the brain child of Albert Grossman, the music industry visionary who managed Bob Dylan and Janis Joplin, it was built by local artisans as a one-of-a-kind showplace venue for an array of musical, theatrical and special events.
