Osvaldo Luis Guevara (Valdi)
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Valdi started to dance Tango at a
very early age. He studied with the Grand Masters of Tango in Buenos
Aires, eventually becoming a performer, teacher and choreographer. He
is well versed in all aspects of Tango, including Milonga, Canyengue,
Salon, Milonguero, Tango-Vals, Tango Nuevo.
His multiple and varied accomplishments include performances in the
some of the most important milongas in Buenos Aires, such as Nino
Bien, Porteno y Bailarin, Salon Canning and Dandy and in multiple
Tango-house shows Esquina Osvaldo Pugliese, Taconeando, Sabor a Tango,
Cafe Tortoni, Bar Sur, La Cumparsita among others not only in Buenos
Aires but also throughout Argentina. He has also performed in
prestigious Theaters in Buenos Aires and numerous cities throughout
Argentina, Chile and Brazil, such as the Astral, Lola Membrives, Pablo
Neruda, Luna Park and many others.
He was also named Choreographer of the official “Ballet Cruz Del Sur “
of the Province , Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina. He has also
participated in in the movie “ El Bar Del Chino De Pompeya” in Buenos
Aires as well as in multiple Argentine and South American Tango Shows.
In 2007, Suzuki Avellaneda, partner of the legendary Papito Avellaneda
invited him to dance with her and with the orchestra “Los Reyes del
Tango “ in various events throughout Buenos Aires.
Fernando Gracia and Melody Celatti, his students, and members of the
cast “Ballet Tango Mio” which he directed for eight years, went on to
compete in the Campeonato Mundial de Tango, one of the largest Tango
Competitions in Buenos Aires. Fernando won the Stage competition in
2007 and Melody in 2008.
