Dear friends of the tango,
After reading Francesca's post of Gustavo and Maria's last class in New York
City, I am reminded why I am so proud to have them coming to Meet in the
Middle. They have taken the leap of faith to come to the country. Other
brave instructors have come before them: Robin Thomas, Robert Hauk,
Jennifer and Ney, Barbara Durr, Tomas Howlin, and Hsueh-tze Lee, come to
mind. It will be a culture shock of epic proportions. No lines at the
airport, no traffic in the town, no restaurants open on Sunday, and no
Wal-Mart. But, everyone says hello, and you can see the stars at night.
So you come too, take a chance. You won't be disappointed. Offering 4
classes with Gustavo and Maria during the festival Sept 17-20, and privates
available from Wed night through Monday night. Then, they leave the quiet,
and I pass them on to Ray in Chicago.
Charles Roques is also still going through culture shock, after moving here
in Feb from NYC. He has invited Ellen Chrystal here to help him teach a
milonga class. His Vals classes are assisted by local, Shauna Smith, his
student of 7 months. Her beautiful dancing reveals Charles' teaching.
James Smith and Mariallan Shadle of Memphis round out the staff with their
track for beginners. Love their titles: "Walk The Line", "In the Mood, In
the Music," and "The Big Squeeze".
We share the square with over 50 booths of artists selling their work on Sat
Sept 19. We perform for them that evening in the park with the Tulsa Tango
Orchestra.

$55 and $60. Or camp on the floor, bring bedding and towel.
Weekend price is $150.00 includes snacks and ice cream truck, all classes,
practicas and milongas. No meals, but you are welcome to bring in your own.
