Argentine Tango Workshop Gustavo Benzecry Saba & Maria Olivera
Both as teachers and performers, Gustavo and Maria are rising stars in the world of tango salon. From the prestigious Salon Canning in Buenos Aires where he regularly teaches, to destinations in Europe and America, Gustavo is recognized for his creativity, elegance, and capacity to make almost any movement work in close embrace. He has studied with such greats as Marta Anton, Omar Vega, Dany "El Flaco" Garcia, Stella Barba, Gustavo Naveira and Eduardo Capussi, among others. The remarkably talented Maria relinquished other forms of dance for tango when she became Gustavo's student. She later studied with many of the tango legends, and in 2004 became Gustavo's teaching and performing partner. Noted for her fast and creative feet, Maria decorates her dance in a very personal way, which is both playful and elegant. With a journalism background, Gustavo has written several books, and has produced a documentary, "The History of Tango Dance 1940-1960. The Golden Age."
