Tango History Video Presentation, Class & Show

Celebrating the bicentennial of the Argentinean Revolution, come to have a 
taste of Argentine Tango. A unique journey into the history of tango through 
rare videos for Tango Preservation Project, followed by a “Totally Beginners” 
tango class and finishing with a fabulous tango show.

Classes by SERGIO (Totally Beginners and pre-intermediate)

1:00 to 2:15 Fundamentals of Tango
(Posture, elegance, weight transfer, direction of the dance, embrace, 
musicality and connection with the couple, basics of leading and following). 
Walking in couple on the music.

3:00 to 4:15 Fundamentals of Milonga
Understanding the "compas" in Milonga Rhythm. The box figure. Rotation of the 
figure. "Rock steps" as a navigation tool.

5:00 to 6:00 Sergio is open for ONE private lesson

Classes by ANTON (Intermediate)

1:00 to 2:15 Double Turns.
One of the most used figures in tango, a giro is an important element from 
which many possibilities come. Giros to both the left and right will be taught 
well as precision and a focus will be based on leading and following techniques.

3:00 to 4:15 Intermediate Milonga

Milonga figures involving empujaditas (small pushesof the leg), arrastres 
(drags), and caminatas (walks). Focus will be on musicality and coordination 
with the music. Different orchestras will be used and explained to give the 
student a better understanding of what they are dancing to.

5:00 to 6:00 Anton is open for ONE private lesson

Sergio Segura & Anton Gazenbeek are directors of the School of Traditional 
Argentine Tango of New York City, Tango historians, producers of 5 teaching 
DVDS, creators of the Anthropology of Tango Dance and Epocas de Tango show. 
They are only male-male professional tango couple in North America. They have 
performed all over the country including at the California Dreaming Same-Sex 
Dance Festival and in countless presentations throughout the USA and Argentina.
