...Evening Workshops, Milonga and Performances. Ernest Williams first discovered Tango in 2000. With Argentina's Fernando Filipelli as his instructor, it quickly became a lifestyle. While living in Hawaii in 2002, Ernest began teaching tango formally at the request of fellow dancers who recognized his ability to translate the more difficult concepts. Since 2003, Ernest has traveled nationally and internationally gathering a wealth of knowledge and experience in the world of dance from various sources. He has conducted workshops, seminars and/or dance exhibitions in numerous cities. His focus in teaching is primarily milonguero, canyengue and canyenguero (milonguero infused with canyengue). WORKSHOPS There will be three one hour and 15 minute workshops Sunday afternoon & evening, followed by "La Divina" Winter Milonga with Ernest Williams demo and DJ with some of his best tango tunes. EVENING WORKSHOPS: No partner or experience necessary!!! 3:15 to 4:30PM Canyengue- Beginning Canyengue for the Tango Dancer. $25 per lesson Learn this fun and funky style of tango that uses the whole body and has existed since the late 1800's. It's charismatic personality, with bent knees and cool body undulations, is perfect for dancing to old guard music such as Canaro and Orquesta Tipica Victor and newer orchestras like Tuba Tango and Punta y Taco. 4:30 to 5:45 PM Milonga con Traspie- Cool Concepts in Traspie $25.00 per lesson Milonga is a fun and upbeat style of tango that moves fast compared to tango. Add a double time step to it's already faster rhythm and you get traspie. Hold on to your dancing shoes because you will learn some movements that will get your feet moving in overdrive. 5:45 to 7:00 PM Vals- Playing with Multiple rhythms in Vals $25.00 per lesson The 3:4 time signature of the tango waltz music makes us feel like we are dancing on waves in the ocean. Imagine you being a world class surfer being able to manipulate his/her board in a way that creates his/her own music. Learn how to create other rhythms with your feet that work perfectly within the beat of the music 7-11PM Milonga with demo (Ernest and Maricela) $10.00 per Tango party All workshops are intermediate/advanced level. 6 months tango dance experience minimum) Advanced registration (by Dec 18th) $55 Complete program/$20 per individual session Day of Pricing $65 Complete program/$25 per individual session Milonga General Admission $12.00 or with purchase of a Workshops is $10.00 The Milonga includes DJ music with Classic Tango, Rythmic Milongas, a lively mix of Nuevo and Alternative Tango by Ernest Williams tango collection.
