Brujo: Put on Pugliese's "La Yumba" and watch him walk alone to the music. If he is still off beat, that means he is NOT focusing on the music, but on steps. Stand next to him, put your arm over his shoulder, and walk him to the music showing him where the beat is. If he can find the beat during the exercise but NOT when he dances, his focus is lost. He is concentrating on figures and not the music. You need to tell him if he can't figure it out from the exercise.
