For instance, the rule that stipulates that one should dance counter clock wise
(which undoubtedly expresses a metaphoric wish to resist the pass of time till
late at night) is equivalent to the rule that one should drive on the right
side of a road.
La pista (dancing floor) is a highway with many lanes (in general three)
divided by yellow lines.
There are different opinions with respect to passing rules: about overtaking in
general or passing during a change of direction of the line of dance, by some,
others treat the "yellow line" with more flexibility mostly when dealing with
couples that are particularly slow dancers.
It is, on the other hand, poor manners to overtake during traffic jams, this
naturally should cause slowing down of the line of dance.
Passing on the right side, blind point for the leader, is absolutely forbidden,
as such action can easily end up with an accident including the tables as well.
In case you arrive late to the dancing floor, the priority is for the couples
that are already dancing.
