Yes, the axiom is a bedrock of tango instruction but it is not an exclusive 
quote by Gavito, nor necessarily great...it is common sense and simply good 
dancing.   Many besides him, and before him, have said it because it is true.  
You lead the woman and then follow her, even when she has misinterpreted your 
lead.  You follow her and that's basically how you save a mislead or 
misunderstood step. 

However, there is a great quote by Gavito that really is genuinely his, because 
I actually heard him say it some years ago in New York when advising dancers to 
not do too much frenetic and distracting dancing and whirling around, "Look 
people, you are not a bunch of washing machines out there."
