On our first 'tango' trip to Buenos Aires, we went to see Maestro Julien
Plaza playing at El Viejo Almacen (monday evening, 21 Aug 2000). Sitting next
to the stage, I couldn't resist capturing the maestro with my camcorder. After
the concert, we (my wife, QuinTango's founding director, Joan Singer, along
with two QuinTango musicians Bruce Steeg and Libby Blatt) met with Plaza. The
next day, Plaza presented arrangements of "Danzarín" and "Nocturna" to Joan.
Both piece were recorded by QuinTango on their third CD, "To Buenos Aires With
Love - 2003," dedicated to the great tango Maestros of BsAs. Maestro Plaza died
the same year.

I've put two videos from the concert on youtube, "Payadora" and "Danzarin."
I hope those of you who have never heard the Maestro himself perform them will
enjoy these heartfelt performance.
