Clarin Newspaper has an article on the world Tango Championship 8/30/2010.
I enclose a translation done by an electronic translator.
During today and tomorrow, Luna Park will become the headquarters of the end of
the Tango Dance World Championship,
with the presence of 33 couples competing in the final of the category Stage
and another 64 in category Salon.
Tickets for the finals are sold out, which confirms the interest shown in this
event by the general public.
The first final will be Tango Salon. Couples who won their place in prior
presentationslast week qualifiers, will be joined by the first place winners of
the Championship of the City of Buenos Aires and the winners of the European
Championship of Turin.
In total there will be 29 couples from Argentina, and others from Colombia,
Chile, France, Italy and other countries.
This is the most classical style of tango, in which jumps and figures are not
allowed.
The couples dance in a circle and pass in front of juries.
As part of the show, will perform the Panamanian Rubén Blades, accompanied by
the Orchestra of Leopoldo Federico.
Tomorrow will be the final for Stage Tango, the most choreographic category.
The competitors are 22 couples from Argentina, three from Japan, five from
Colombia, one Chilean, one of Korea and Venezuela each.
The jury includes leading figures, such as Claudio Segovia and Miguel Angel
Zotto.
In addition to competition, there will be a show by Susana Rinaldi with the
orchestra of Osvaldo Piro, and there will also be a tribute to Maria Nieves.
The number of couples enrolled for both competitions exceeded expectations:
over 400, who came from 23 countries, including South Africa and the
Philippines, among other exotic origines.
Best regards, Sergio
