The CD Release Event of singer/songwriter George Nicol's new CD "Weightless Slumber" will be held this Sunday, October 9th, 7pm, at Club Tango, 4000 Middlefield Road, Bldg L, Room 4, (North entrance in back near tennis courts.), Palo Alto.
Over three years in the making, George's new CD "Weightless Slumber", recorded in Buenos Aires using all Argentine musicians, is now being released for sale. The musical arrangements make use of a full range of instruments (no tape loops) including bandoneon, piano, bass, flute, guitar, cello, sax, oboe, trombone, keyboard, strings, drums, oboe, and percussion. George wrote each song and sings the lead vocals. Daniel "Pipi" Piazzolla, grandson of the late Astor Piazzolla, is George's drummer on this CD. The music in "Weightless Slumber" is a rich blend of ballad and lyrical sounds and melodies well suited to Nuevo Tango. The CD Release Event will include Tango dance performances by George Nicol, Tiziana Perinotti, Miriam Kass, and Hala to the music from "Weightless Slumber". After the performances there will be a Tango lesson by George and Tango dancing after the lesson. Admission is $10.
