The essence of Raul Cabral's art and teaching is to develop the competence of each student through amplified awareness of musical rhythm and natural body movement. Dedicated to a non-choreographic methodology, both leader and follower learn to enrich the quality of their dance by learning to move correctly but freely, while expressing attention and sensitivity toward their partner. He makes the execution of this very complicated dance form seem easy utilizing a simple but detailed breakdown of movement techniques, balance and floor-craft. Known as “The Doctor”, Cabral guides the dancer, at any level, to discover and heighten their awareness of self and to expand their ability and confidence to dance on the social floor.

Raull Cabral's extensive knowledge of the culture, history, tradition and music of Tango make him a sought after resource for new and seasoned Tango aficionados alike. He hosts regular discussion groups to collaborate and to share experiences and perspectives with peers. Dedicated to his art form and its dissemination, he is a contributor of articles to numerous magazines and periodicals both in Buenos Aires and internationally and is currently compiling his numerous writings for a book. Cabral’s music library is one of the most extensive amongst his peers. With over 4,000 recordings, the collection spans a period
of over 60 years, with an emphasis on the 1940’s, The Golden Age of Tango.

A renowned maestro de Tango for over 13 years, Raul Cabral has taught and shared his art and pedagogy with over thirty-five international tango professors who have made the pilgrimage to Buenos Aires to learn his methodology. Over 800 of his students are currently dancing in milongas worldwide. He has given workshops and participated in festivals in Brazil, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, France and Argentina, and is a member of long standing of the Asociación de Maestros y Coreógrafos de Tango Argentino, Buenos Aires.
