Creating variable patterns on top of one rhythm
Taking one pattern and changing the rhythm
How to practice and connect variable patterns
Handouts provided on all things covered in the class
4:15 - 5:45 p.m. Workshop II - Listening & Dancing to the Music
What makes a milonga?
Listening to the background and foreground.
How to dissect a Milonga piece: Mapping Musical Phrases
Finding movement for each Phrase: basics of choreography
CD of the music is provided for students to study
These are progressive Workshops. Workshop I is a requirement for the
Workshop II.
Students can take the 2nd workshop without the attending the 1st workshop,
only if they can dance the four basic rhythms confidently.

Well respected by the tango community in Buenos Aires, Cecilia
Gonzalez has taught
and danced at festivals around the world. She has partnered with
some of the most
famous tangueros of her generation including: Osvaldo Zotto, Fabian Salas and
Mariano 'Chicho' Frumboli. The technical precision, fluidity and
elegance of her
movements and notable capacity of improvisation characterize her dance.
Her complete knowledge and her passion for teaching makes her a very
appreciated and
requested tango teacher being invited regularly to give workshops in
Europe and North
America since 1996. She has taught in Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico,
Italy, France,
Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Iceland, Australia, New Zealand,
Canada and US. Since its inception in 1999, she has been a member of
the teaching
faculty of the Argentine International Tango Congress (CITA) held
annually in Buenos Aires.
From his hometown of Mar del Plata, Donato Juarez has been part of a
group of enthusiastic
young dancers who have continued to tirelessly explore the
intricacies of tango. He has studied
with many renowned teachers and he has been invited to international
tango festivals in Iceland,
Australia, Europe, and Mexico and has performed in many theaters in
Mar del Plata. He was also
invited to perform with Cecilia Gonzalez, in both the 2006 and 2007
International Argentine Tango
Congress (CITA).
