The first 25 minutes of the guided practica will be focused on technique and
exercises.
Note All participants of the practica will receive individual feedback (much
like in a private
class) and will have the opportunity to ask more questions after the practica
also.
Milonga: 9-12:30+

Jean's Bio: After years of classical piano & violin and vintage social dances,
Jean became
fascinated by Argentine Tango in the early 1990's. She was at ground zero when
nuevo
tango hit the Bay Area, assisting Pablo Veron in his classes in the 1997
Stanford Tango
Week. She subsequently has studied with many of the top teachers in that
style, including
Gustavo Naveira, Chicho Frumboli, Luciana Valle, Lucia Mazer, and so on. In
addition, in
her many trips to Buenos Aires, she has developed a deep appreciation of the
social tango
by dancing with the local dancers including pre-eminent milongueroes in the
salon and
club style, such as el Chino Perico, Julio Duplaa, Cacho Dante, etc.
Along her journey to the essence of tango, she has overcome many physical
challenges by
seeking other disciplines such as Iyengar yoga and somatic release. Her ideal
tango is one
where the couple dances as one in an embrace absent of unnecessary tension,
each fully
committed to the other in the dance that emanates from a visceral feeling of
the music.
As a teacher, Jean is noted for the ability to diagnose technical problems and
able to
provide solutions that suited the individual's ability and learning style.
Well verse in both
the leader and follower's technique, she has assisted Luciana Valle during her
annual
workshops in the Bay Area.
