You have to take the results from poxy-based listeners with a grain of salt-- they will modify the underlying http dialog mechanics, depending on exactly what you are trying to do. This is especially true in the area of keep-alives-- they are not completely transparent.
For a much more transparent solution, check out Ethereal (http://www.ethereal.com/). It's open source and can run on Win32, Linux and Solaris. It's a packet sniffer, but has many powerful high-level analysis features; for instance it can reconstruct a complete http dialog and present it in an easy to read form. I think it's much more powerful than using proxies. I found it quite easy to set up and use. As a bonus, since it can also sniff UDP, it serendipitously revealed some weirdness in my windows network.
