We are looking for people who are interested in using our alpha application.
Actually, it has the stability/useability of a good beta (it's rock solid)
but we are calling it an alpha because it doesn't have an installer. It
comes as an executable jar and you "bring your own jre 1.4" :)

In a nutshell, the application is like Ofoto/photopoint running on your pc.
It has a pure web interface and allows you to compose photo albums and then
vend them out over your broadband internet connection. The interface is very
simple and the application is easy to use.

The application is written in Tapestry/Jetty.

What you get for participating in Beta:

-Access to the application and all of its descendants and upgrades for free
(forever). It should be pretty useable in its current state (the authors are
using it).
-Help the Tapestry/Jetty community by helping to debug a Tapestry/Jetty
application.
-Access to the techniques employed in the application. The application is
*not* open source at this time, although it will most likely go open source
eventually. However, if a beta user sees something in the application that
they would like to use in their own application, we will show how we did it
(not that we are doing anything super sophisticated at this point).

What we need from users at this point:
- you should have a genuine interest in digital photography and sharing
digital photo albums
- you need an always on broadband internet connection that is addressable
from the internet; that is, it accepts incoming http connections.

If anyone in the Tapestry community is interested, please mail me at this
address.

-------The following is a little marketing propaganda that we have whipped
up--------------

Pixory is in the vanguard of a new paradigm for image storage and sharing--
the personal image server. This single application turns your personal
computer into a platform for storing, composing and sharing digital photos
and albums over the internet. You no longer need to suffer the hassles of
emailing picture attachments, or the costs and limitations of online photo
sharing services. With Pixory and an always-on broadband internet connection
(cable modem or DSL) your personal computer becomes your personal online
photo sharing service. You and your friends and family can access all of the
functionality of your personal image server from anywhere on the internet,
using a standard web browser. There is no need to fuss with installing
specialized softare. Best of all, Pixory is incredibly simple to use,
requiring no expertise in image manipulation programs such as Adobe
Photoshop (tm), setting up web servers, or generating html. Pixory does
everything automatically-- just drop your photos into a standard filesystem
directory, optionally add captions and text, and you are ready to share your
album with the world.
