If you are using a Submit/Link Submit to remove items, then do NOT remove them in the listener method of the button. Remove things in the listener method of the form itself, otherwise you will upset the number of components that Tapestry expects on the page and will throw a Stale Link Exception.
Use the tag/selected approach as in Chapter 3 of TIA and the To Do List example.
