This would be an extremely cool (and long overdue) move. Main highlight of 5.3 release (that is touted in the article as "major upgrade") is not new features, but actually an offical acknowledgement that WO will be supported on Mac OS X only - something that scares away lots of current and potential users. Open sourcing it may turn things around.
